Health reform is now reality and small businesses certainly will be impacted. This new law has implications for firms of all sizes, but small businesses in particular are faced with a unique set of challenges and opportunities.
First and foremost, firms with less than 50 employees will be exempt from employer coverage mandates. In addition, many small businesses and non-profits that provide health insurance coverage to their employees will be eligible, starting in the 2010 tax year, for a health care tax credit. By 2014, small businesses will be able to purchase health insurance through online marketplaces called health insurance exchanges. HealthPass has been an operational commercial health insurance exchange since 1999 and remains committed to providing small businesses and sole proprietors with affordable, quality, and flexible health insurance options that fit their needs and budget.
